638 ANTONOV An-iftA UKRAINA (FMH> Wclfwfco AMI turboprop*) Span ... ... ...... 124ft 7in Length ... 121ft 3in Oleg K. Antonov prepared his An-10 transport four years ago at his design bureau in Kief. Although obviously attractive to military operators it has so far been seen only in the colours of Aeroflot. It went into service on the Moscow - Kiev route last July after pro- tracted route-proving trials; it is now in ser- vice on routes from Moscow to Lvov, Syktyvkar and various Crimean centres, and from Leningrad to Kharkov and Novosibirsk to Alma Ata. Although it appears to have a small wing it has excellent short-field performance and can operate from unprepared surfaces, while carrying freight or up to 126 six-abreast passengers in its capacious pressurized fuselage
