8 JULY 1960 FLIGHT The crew of a service aircraft have plenty to think about. Every improvement in the reliability of their aircraft takes a load off the mind and leaves man and machine more efficient. It's this thought that lies behind much of BP research into production of ever more perfect fuels: fuels that won't ice up in the fuel systems, fuels that don't turn to slush at high altitudes or gum at high temperatures, fuels of the right cut for the right job. BP research has, in fact, settled these problems: thinking is nowadays pitched far ahead, looking into problems that have yet to arise, but which form part of the pattern of aviation's developing future.
