TRAINING AS AIRLINE PILOTS COLLEGE OF AIR TRAINING Applications are invited for cadetships at The College of Air Training for entry commencingSeptember 1961. The course is for 2 years. Cadets, on graduation, will be guaranteed long-term engagements as pilots with B.O.A.C. or B.E.A. Applicants must be unmarried British Subjects over 18 years old and under 20 on entry. Universitygraduates under 24. They must have obtained, or be likely to obtain before entry a General Certi- ficate of Education or Northern Ireland Grammar School Senior Certificate in at least 5 subjects,including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject. At least 2 of the passes must be at "A" Level. Applicants from Scotland should have obtained the Scottish Leaving Certificate withpasses in either 3 Higher grade and 2 Lower grade, or 4 Higher grade subjects, including in both cases English Language, Mathematics and Science. University graduates and undergraduates need not necessarily have obtained these G.C.E. qualifi-cations. Applications from those who are otherwise suitably qualified, will be treated on merit. Applicants will be required to pass a medical examination at least to the standard of the AirlineTransport Pilot's Licence. Cadets will be resident at the College. They will receive no pay during the College course and willbe required to meet maintenance and other expenses, of approximately £675 over the 2 years. County Education Authorities will consider applications for grants to defray all, or part of theseexpenses.
