FLIGHT International, 19 April 1962 601 Two US lists were filed with the UN on April 3, giving supple mentary information (as at February 27 and March 13 respec tively) following the first list (dated February 15 and reproduced in Flight International of March 29, 1962). The following new infor mation was included:— February 27 list: Addition of 1961 Alpha Lambda 1, a "non functional object" launched by Atlas Agena on December 22, 1961, with 94.5min nodal period, 89.59° inclination, 750.9km apogee and 233.5km perigee. Addition of 1962 Alpha 2, a "non functional object" launched by Atlas Agena on January 26, 1962 [associated with Ranger 3], in heliocentric orbit. Addition of 1962 Delta 1 [USAF satellite] launched by Thor Agena on February 21, 1962, with 89.7min period, 81.97° inclination, 374.4km apogee and 167.7km perigee.' Addition of 1962 Epsilon 1, 2, 3 and 4 [Discoverer 38 and associated objects] launched by Thor Agena on February 27, 1962, with 90.4min period, 82.23° inclination, 608.7km apogee and 333.9km perigee. Deletion of 1961 Delta 4 [Explorer 9 fragment] and 1961 Alpha Kappa 2 [Oscar], both of which "decayed prior to February 15, 1962." March 13 list: Addition of 1962 Zeta 1 and 2 [0S0 and associated object] stated to have been launched by Atlas but in fact launched by Delta on March 7, 1962, with 95.8min and 96min periods, 32.92° inclination, 577km and 588km apogee, and 557km perigee. Addition of 1962 Eta 1, 2 and 3 [USAF satellite and associated objects] launched by Atlas Agena on March 7,1962, with periods of 93.9, 90.3 and 93.9min; inclinations of 90.93°, 90.85° and 90.85°; apogees of 688, 350 and 683km and perigees of 236, 226 and 245km. Deletion of 1961 Alpha Kappa 1 piscoverer 36], decayed March 8; 1962 Delta 1, decayed March 9; 1962 Epsilon 2 and 3, decayed March 3; and 1962 Epsilon 4, decayed March 7. In his accompanying letter Mr Stevenson said: "With these additions and deletions to the record and corrections of inadver tent omissions in our previous report, you will have received for the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space and for the Public Registry a full registry of all United States space vehicles and associated objects in sustained orbit or space transit as of March 13, 1962. "An additional report on the orbital flight of Colonel John Glenn is also submitted herewith in view of the scientific importance of, and the worldwide interest in, this particular flight."
