Below, Staff Sgt Don Hughes landing Tiger Club Season Begins A highly successful air show at Panshanger Aerodrome on Easter Monday, April 23, opened the Tiger Club's 1962 season of display flying. Included in the pro gramme were aerobatics by Peter Phillips and by Neil Williams in Cosmic Wind racer Ballerina, and Lewis Benjamin's wing-standing act (photograph above) on Tiger Moth G-ARAZ flown by Dennis Hartas. A full account of the background to the club's air-display operations will appear in an early issue. Army Corporal Wins Parachuting Nationals Winner of the National Parachuting Championship at Goodwood on Easter Monday was Cpl K. B. Sanders of the 22nd Special Air Service Regiment (SAS Skydivers Club), who gained 1,756 points. Second was Pte Shardy Vatnsdal of the 1st Parachute Brigade Club, and third was Lance-Cpl Peter Beaumont of the SAS Skydivers. Two other members of the SAS Skydivers, Lance-Cpl T. Jickells and Cpl R. Reid, were placed respectively fourth and fifth, with Fit Sgt T. F. Moloney of No 1 Parachute Training School, RAF Abingdon, in sixth position. The contest was sponsored by the Daily Telegraph and the British Parachute Association. An international spot- landing competition was won by the Austrian team, with the US 8th Division second and Sweden third. Twice on Sunday Two flying events planned for Sunday next, May 6, should ensure adequate food for breakfast and lunch for pilots prepared to fly as far as Biggin Hill and Blackbushe. First event is a breakfast patrol organized by 600 Squadron Flying Group at Biggin from 9.15 to 9.45 a.m., with a defended area extending from one mile to four miles' radius of the aerodrome, between 1,000ft and 2,000ft above aerodrome height (which is 585ft above mean sea level). From 11 a.m. onwards the fly-in organized by Blackbushe Aero Club gets under way, with a buffet lunch included in the programme. Another event on the Black bushe club's calendar is a dance at the Hawley Hotel, Camberley, tomorrow (May 4), beginning at 8 p.m. "Flight International" photographs Linnet in Production Air Vice-Marshal D. C. T. Bennett of Fairtravel Ltd has announced that the Linnet version of the French Emeraude has gone into production at the company's works at Boyn Hill Road, Maidenhead. The prototype Linnet was built by Garland-Bianchi Aircraft Co and first flew in 1958. In recent years plans for production had been made by Garland Aircraft Co but had not been realized. Selling price of the aircraft is quoted as £2,395, complete with blind-flying instruments.
