Another variant of the 107 is in production for the US Marine Corps; other customers include the RCAF, the Swedish Royal Navy and Air Force (Gnome engines), Kawasaki of Japan and (civil transport) New York Airways. Indian Soviet Purchases? India may buy more heavy transport aircraft and helicopters from the Soviet Union, according to a Parliamentary state ment made recently in New Delhi by the Defence Minister, Mr V. K. Krishna Menon. He said that the Government had made a comparative assessment of Soviet aircraft, besides "taking into account all pressures that come from everywhere." Mitsubishi XMU2 Mitsubishi Heavy Industries have decided to go ahead this summer with construction of two prototypes of the XMU2, a twin- turboprop, high-wing utility aircraft, as a follow-on project for the YS-11 and F-104J. Scottish Survey An airborne geophysical survey of an area extending westwards from the shallow waters of Berwick-on-Tweed and the Firth of Forth across the Scottish lowlands to the southern islands of the Inner Hebrides is being carried out by Hunting Surveys Ltd. under contract to the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. This operation is part of a national programme sponsored by the Geological Survey of Great Britain. The survey is being flown at 1,000ft a.g.l. in parallel flight lines at two- kilometre intervals running from east to west. Navigation over the sea will be by Decca.
