FLIGHT International. 5 July 19, 8,000 hours at 800° C NIMONIC* ALLOYS GIVE RELIABLE SERVICE IN THE ROLLS-ROYCE DART High-pressure turbine blades of NIMONIC H>5 alloy operating at 800°C have completed 8,000 running hours in the Rolls-Royce Dart Mark 506. Other components in the NIMONIC Series of alloys have also achieved excellent 'lives'—15,000 hours for low-pressure turbine blades in NIMONIC 8<>A; 12,000 hours for discharge nozzles in NIMONIC 75; and 8,000 hours for flame tubes in NIMONIC 75. The resistance of alloys of the NIMONIC Series to heat, creep and oxidation makes an important contribution to long overhaul life. These alloys are used for 'hot' parts in this and every other British aircraft gas turbine. •TRADEMARK Sectional view of a 2,000 slip Rolls-Royce Dart R.
