FLIGHT International, 26 July 1962 27 chosen for the Transall O 160 Weighing only 63 lbs., this single stage centrifugal compressor is designed and manufactured by Normalair Limited at Yeovil, Somerset, and two are sufficient to pressurize the 8,000 cubic feet capacity cabin of the Transall C-160 troop-carrying aircraft, which is being developed and constructed by the joint working group of: Nord-Aviation (France); and Hamburger Flugzeugbau; "Weser" Flugzeugbau and Prof. Blume (Germany). The first of these Aircraft is due to fly this year, and at an altitude of 30,000 ft. each of its Normalair compressors will supply about 50 lbs. of air per minute. Normalair Limited is the only organization in Great Britain able to undertake the design, development and production of complete cabin air conditioning systems for all classes of military and civil aircraft.
