FLIGHT International, 23 August 1962 5 Well flown? Well sailed? NO - well hovered, the SRN 2 New as it is, the SRN2 already has a brilliant past behind it. Currently, it's skimming over the Solent with even more success than the SRN1. Designed to hover well—with 850 gallons of Shell aviation fuel in the tanks. Not to mention a double-decker busload of passengers. And the future? A whole science fiction galaxy of successors, sliding over rivers, swamps, seas or ice the world over. Shell will be there, too, ready to fuel the SRN 2's descendants—with as much efficiency as their forefather met. Both SRN 1 and SRN 2 are coated with paints based on Shell 'Epikote' resin for complete protection. SRN 2. Up to 76 passengers or 8 tons of freight. • Over 80 m.p.h. • Ail up weight 27 tons. D Turn- round time on beach with full load of passengers is as low as 3 minutes. The SRN 2 was built by the Saunders-Roe Division of Westland Aircraft Ltd., in association with Hovercraft Development Ltd. HOVER WELL-HOVER SHELL
