FjLIGMT international, 6 Sep> Hawker P.I 127 and Hunter Two-Seater. Below, Folland Gnat Twenty-third SBAC Show FIRST REPORT FROM FARNBOROUGH Illustrated with "Flight International" photographs WITH over 10,000 overseas guests from 117 countries and territories having accepted invitations to attend, and with six new types of aircraft taking part in the flying display, the 1962 Society of British Aircraft Constructors' show at RAE Farnborough, Hants, has from its start had two essential ingredients for success—plenty of potential buyers from abroad and the stimulus of new wares io show off to customers, competitors and the public. Only the Russians have been missing from the scene—so far. At Hie request of the Government, they were not invited— because, as the director of the SBAC, Mr E. C. Bowyer, explained, the Government has for a long time been trying unsuccessfully to get facilities for reciprocal visits to the Soviet Union. But there is nothing to stop the Russians, or anyone who pays the appropriate admission fee, from coming 'o the show on its three public days, tomorrow (Friday), Saturday and Sunday.
