It is the Westland Wasp and its operational base will be the Roval Navy's new frigates shortlv to come into service. Fittedwitha Blackburn Nimbus gas turbine engine this compact versatile helicopter will operate in various roles from weapon carrier to anti submarine search or strike. It will have many special features among which will be a folding tail, folding blades and a speciallv designed undercarriage. Small rotor diameters and easy access to engine and transmission will ease operation, handling, stowage and maintenance.
