FLIGHT International, 18 October 1962 STC AIRCREW HEADSETS Captain of Comet 4C aircraft using STC Aircrew Lightweight Headset to communicate with Apron Control at LAP. STC Aircrew headsets are of exceptionally HIGH SENSITIVITY and are a modification of those already adopted by the British Post Office and other telephone authorities. In this modified form, these extremely LIGHTWEIGHT sets are fitted with a miniature electro-magnetic microphone instead of the standard carbon mircrophone. The headsets are particularly suited for use by Aircrew and Air Traffic Controllers where an amplifier is normally available. Although so light, the headsets are EXTREMELY ROBUST being made of nylon plastic. The arrangement and positioning of the microphone INSIDE THE HEADSET has many advantages over the more usual 'boom' type. It is better protected, adjustments and cord arrangements are simpler and transmission is clearer. LOW COST is a further important factor. Available with single or double earpieces and fitted with soft earpads. ARB TYPE APPROVAL NO. W.R. 640; For full information ask for Brochure D/109.
