592 FLIGHT International, 25 April 1963 Westland SR.N4 Air-Cushion Vehicles SOME "STOP PRESS" ITEMS MANY readers of Flight International tell us how they look forward to the monthly Air-Cushion Vehicles sup plement, the latest of which is included in this issue. A growing number of people, having a more specialist interest, subscribe solely to the supplement itself, issued as a separate journal, obtainable at 18s per annum, $3 USA and Canada. Such have been the happenings in the few days since this month's "ACV" closed for press that we are constrained to print on this page some of the more important items. Most momentous news of all is the announcement by Westland Aircraft Ltd of very notably improved obstacle- clearing performance, and of their preparedness to make deliveries of SR.N2, SR.N2 Mk 2 and SR.N5 by March 1964, or nine months from receipt of orders. SR.N5 will have a Bristol Siddeley Gnome, will cruise at 70kt, and will be able to clear a 4ft wall. Westland also announce project work on SR.N4, a 170-tonner to meet English Channel conditions. We also reproduce pictures of the Hovercraft Develop ment Ltd HD-1 research craft, and of the Vickers-Arm- strongs VA-2, recently demonstrated to H.R.H. Prince Bernhard. Next month's issue of Air-Cushion Vehicles—appearing on May 16—will deal fully with all these projects and events.
