A Very Special Issue For many years this journal has been noted for, and has prided itself on, the variety and frequency of its special issues. These constitute far more than mere "feature" numbers of a magazine: they are, in fact, annual works of reference, having everyday applications in the aircraft and aerospace industries of many nations, in the education and technical centres of those nations, and in the service of their armed forces (not least those of the USA). Now in preparation is one such issue which will surpass all its predecessors in its international importance and appeal and in the extent of its coverage. Entitled Paris Show Guide, it is to be published on June 6. We confidently believe that this will prove to be something unique in aeronautical journalism, and we strongly urge our readers not to miss it. Channel Isles Rally Winner of the main awards at the inter national rally organized by the Channel Islands Aero Club on May 3-4 in Jersey was Miss Sheila Scott, flying a Piper Comanche. Gaining a total of 731 out of a possible 760 points, Miss Scott won the Quennevais Trophy, in addition to the Lamoy Cup for navigation and airmanship, the time-of- arrival cup and the Krichefski Cup for the best British entry. Among other awards were the following: Concours d'Elegance, E. Wien (Fair Oaks), Picchio; Concours d'Elegance (non-metal aircraft), L. Zodel (Lubeck), Jodel D.120; Ross-Gower Trophy, C. P. Tschudi (Swit zerland), Beechcraft Bonanza; lnter-club Trophy, the Tiger Club. A total of 122 aircraft attended the meeting. Travel Air for Sky Charters The Beech Travel Air which Short Bros & Harland have operated as a demonstrator has now been delivered to Sky Charters Ltd of Gatwick. This is the second Beech machine to be supplied to Sky Charters by Shorts recently, the first being a Musketeer, for which type Sky Charters hold the Southern England dealership. The Travel Air is to be used for executive charter and contract hire work. Postcard-size Pictures In addition to Flight International copy right photographs available in various sizes there is a postcard series of nearly 200 modern and historic military aircraft ranging from the Avro 504K to the English Electric Lightning. A complete list is available on application to this journal's offices at Dorset House, Stamford Street, London SE1. Prices of the cards are 9d each or 8|d each for quantities of a dozen or more. The Second Bristol 188 stainless-steel supersonic research aircraft (Bristol Siddeiey Gyron junior engines) differs externally from the first only in having a camera "bullet" projecting ahead of the tailplane. Accompanied by a two-seat Hunter chase aircraft, it is pictured on its first take-off from Filton on April 29
