FLIGHT International, 6 June 1963 , 833 plate. Propulsion is by a two-stage solid- propellant rocket motor combining the functions of booster and sustainer. Control signals are generated by manipulating the joystick of a control box equipped with a miniature transistorized electronic computer and also containing the necessary batteries. The control commands are then transmitted to the missile via a multiple wire which unwinds during flight from a coil built into the body of the rocket. Controls & Communications Ltd, 130 Mount Street, London Wl, England. Stand C.1S2. British Communications Corporation, a company within the Controls & Communica tions group, are exhibiting a selection of new and established communications equipment. (3) Spectocom head-up display, giving a wide variety of electronically generated information and director symbols on a collimated screen in the pilot's head-up field of view. Spectocom was designed and made by Specto Avionics Ltd in England. Such equipment is now considered essential for fast low-flying attack aircraft. (4) Vicom airborne photographic system, using four Vinten cameras and in-flight film processing system in an 851b pod. The system is linked with PHI so that each photograph is annotated with geographical co-ordinates. (5) The company has, since 1961, had a 200-acre aerophysics research laboratory and various studies are in hand. (6) Ground support equipment from simple Go/No-Go testers to automatic check ing and fault tracing systems. (7) Specialized airborne computers, including an automatic wind computer for use in conjunction with Doppler radars, and a central heading com puter, assessing aircraft heading from various sources. Contraves AG, Schaffhausenstrassc 580, Zurich 52, Switzerland. Stand A .42. On show is the Contraves-Oeriikon Mos quito wire-guided one-man anti-tank rocket and associated equipment. This is designed to attack targets at distances of up to 6,000ft.
