PARIS 1963... de Haviiiand Trident production lines (Hawker Siddeley) bomber (four Rolls-Royce Conway); the Herald civil and military transports and their new developments (two Rolls-Royce Dart); the HP.115 research aircraft (Bristol Siddeley Viper); and Handley Page research into the problems of laminar flow and supersonics. A Dart Herald is available for flying demon strations during the show. More than a dozen operators, in Britain, Italy, Switzerland, Canada and the Middle and Far East, have so far ordered Heralds. These aircraft carry up to 56 passengers. One military version has side loading, and another is a rear-loading STOL close-support develop ment. The projected Jet Herald will carry 70 passengers at 455 m.p.h. The HP.115 is a low-aspect-ratio delta with which test results to date have proved more favourable than forecast. In association with other British constructors Handley Page have been working for some time on the design of supersonic aircraft. One such is the HP. 128, to fly at Mach 1.15 but without making a supersonic "bang." Various applications of laminarization to both supersonic and sub sonic aircraft are exemplified, typical of the projects being the 300-seat HP. 117. Also featured are a laminarized Mach 2 delta-wing airliner and a projected Mach 0.95 laminar ized airliner suitable for transatlantic stage lengths. Harley Aircraft Landing Lamps, Paxton Hill, St Neots, Hunts, England. Stand C.24. Items exhibited are: helicopter universal landing lamp model No 500 Mk 1; retractable landing lamp, model No 8 SBR (as fitted to the Vickers VC10); 1250W landing lamp (experi mental lamp designed for supersonic airliners); 18in lightweight marine searchlight; 8in marine floodlight; model B Mk 4 portable floodlight unit; airfield reflector unit; naviga tion and hazard beacons; landing lamp, model No 11 Mk 11; floodlight model No 11 GE. Cette societi presente un phare d'atterrissage pour helicopteres, unphare escamotablequi equipe le VC10, un phare experimental a 1250 W pour avions de transport supersoniques, et des phares divers pour usages marins et pour aeroports. Hawker Siddeley Aviation Ltd, 32 Duke Street, London SW1, England. Stand A.13. This great organization is making its biggest contribution ever to the Paris Show. It is planned to demonstrate ten aircraft—the Whitworth Gloster Argosy C.l military trans port (four Rolls-Royce Dart); Folland Gnat two-seater advanced trainer (Bristol Siddeley Orpheus); Hawker Hunter operational trainer (Rolls-Royce Avon); Hawker P.1I27 V/STOL strike aircraft (Bristol Siddeley Pegasus), de Haviliand Trident rear-engined jet airliner (three Rolls-Royce Spey); DH.125 jet execu tive aircraft (two Bristol Siddeley Viper); de Haviiiand Dove 8 piston-engined executive aircraft (two DH Gipsy Queen); Blackburn Buccaneer low-level strike aircraft (two BS Gyron Junior); Avro 748 Series 2 turboprop airliner (two Rolls-Royce Dart), and de Havii iand Canada Caribou STOL transport (two Pratt & Whitney R-2000). The Hawker P.l 127, which is making its first Continental appearance, is among the most revolutionary aircraft of recent years. The Bristol Siddeley Pegasus is a "vectored-thrust" turbofan and the P. 1127 has special jets at the nose, tail and wing tips to provide control during hovering flight and at low airspeeds. The de Haviiiand Trident and Blackburn Buccaneer have been the subjects of very detailed and lavishly illustrated descriptions in
