FLIGHT International, 6 June 1963 853 computer. Integration of signals received from the Doppler unit and pilot instrumentation by the computer and resolution to control com mands enables completely automatic, hands- off flight and navigation. Automatic stabiliza tion equipment, developed by Kaman, trans lates control commands from the computer to mechanical displacement of the control system. The automatic stabilization system may be used independently to maintain a pre-selected helicopter attitude, speed and altitude in hover or in flight when the auto-navigation equip ment is not in use. The Huskie is principally used for rescue operations. Walter Kidde & Co Inc, 667 Main Street, Belle ville 9, New Jersey, USA. Stand C.157. For the first time in its history the parent Walter Kidde Company is exhibiting at Paris. It is being represented by two of its overseas subsidiaries, The Walter Kidde Co Ltd (England) and Walter Kidde GmbH (West Germany). Special features of the Kidde exhibit are attitude and position control systems for satellite and missile applications; pneumatic equipment, such as air compressors and air storage containers; flight safety devices, includ ing temperature and fire-detection systems and fire extinguishing systems; oxygen containers and valves for flight breathing systems; as well as other components and integrated systems. The Walter Kidde Co Ltd, of Northolt, Middx, are showing recent additions to their range of lightweight, portable oxygen sets, the earlier models of which are already in use in large numbers by many of the world's airlines. A complete and functionally correct replica of the de Havilland Trident emergency passenger oxygen system is available for demonstration, together with units applicable to other aircraft systems. An automatically inflated liferaft is shown, together with a wide range of COa inflation gear. There is, too, a model of an aircraft hangar which employs the new system of high pressure inflatable tubes to support the light weight cover of the building. Photographs are also on view illustrating the operational sequence of many of the exhibits. Kollsman Instrument Corp, 80-08 45th Avenue, Elmhurst 73, New York, USA. Stand C.21. Demonstrations of new aerospace instru ments, a celestial navigation system, and a new display projector are taking place daily on the Kollsman Instrument Corp stand. On hand are representatives from Kollsman Luftfahrt Instrumente GmbH, Munich; Kollsman Instrument Ltd, Southampton, England; and Kollsman headquarters in New York. The KS-85 photoelectric sextant ("Golden Star Tracker") is being demonstrated for the first time in Europe. Kollsman have also selected the Paris Show for the first public demonstration of its new Data Display Pro jector. A complete family of altitude record ing devices, designated Alti-Coders, are being demonstrated. These represent the first totally automatic airborne altitude reporting equipment for both conventional and jet- powered light and heavy aircraft. Two other new air traffic control systems exhibited are the remote altimeter setting indicator (RASIK) and the servo pneumatic altimeter system. In addition to actual demonstrations of the aforementioned instruments and systems, many new aerospace instruments are on view. Kollsman Southampton products shown are: astro tracking system (KS-85) in opera tion; RASIK (remote altimeter setting indicator-Kollsman); drag cup altimeter; Alti-Coder; and information display system. Kollsman Munich products shown are: barometric instruments: optical instruments: computers; and other licence products. Societe Anonyme Precision Mecanique Labinal, 126 Bd Victor Hugo, Saint-Ouen (Seine), France. Stand B.12. Featured on this company's stand are constant-frequency variable-speed alternators, generators, and other electrical devices.
