Now 50 years old, this company has much experience in the development of electric resistance welding machines for spot welding, projection welding, seam welding and flash and butt welding. Two resistance spot-welding machines are shown: the three-phase resistance spot-welding machine type R.P. 2002.G G. DC. T.T., and the single-phase resistance spot and projection welding machine type PRP. 802G, fitted with feedback automatic phase shifter, "Monautronic V.5." The above-named company are agents in France for Goodmans Industries Ltd, the British manufacturers of loudspeakers and vibration generators. The latter equipment is featured at Paris. Vibrators consist in the first instance of the company's standard range of medium-thrust models, but over and above this the highlight of the stand is the new vibrator VG.IK Mk I, which develops a thrust of 1,0001b, and the VG.109 Mk III, this last unit being one of the largest made and develop ing a thrust of 18,0001b. Also on display are a number of electronic units such as the com pany's audio oscillator and cathode follower. The company has planned to give a "live" performance of the VG.109 Mk III, showing the movement of the table at the lower frequencies. LCC Steafix VG.IK. Joining with American Avitron Inc, its overseas distributor of aerospace systems and components, this company exhibits more than 40 items. Included are a working model of a space- borne television camera and an animated panel illustrating the Lear Siegler/Sud-Aviation automatic landing system. The television camera, similar to that used by the USA's National Aeronautics and Space Administra tion in obtaining their spectacular photos of the Echo balloon project in 1962,weighs only 81b. Of particular interest to the French visitors will be the 5ft x 8ft animated display depicting the operation of the LSI automatic landing 854 FLIGHT International, 6 June 1963 system installed in the Sud Caravelle and demonstrated to the Press in December 1962 at Orly. This programme, undertaken in July 1961, has been conducted by the Astronics Division of LSI and Sud-Aviation under the joint sponsorship of LSI, Sud, the United States Federal Aviation Agency and the French Government. To date more than 400 auto matic and 40 manual landings have success fully been made using the system. Although the final phase of the programme, to establish system reliability and maximum pilot-system- aircraft integration for true zero/zero certifica tion, is continuing through a follow-on programme, an initial order for 20 systems has been received by LSI. The display also features the latest LSI- developed manufacturing techniques in spin forging and microcircuit production.
