To keep page with the higher tempera tures encountered in supersonic flight a range of materials has been introduced giving a working limit of 350°C. The centrepiece of the Ward Brooke exhibit shows aircraft plastic components, starting with the electrical system and ranging through hydraulics and furnishings. The company claims that every current British military and civil aircraft carries components of its manu facture, and on the Vickers VC10 over 4,500 separate items are employed. Exhibits include terminal blocks, lightweight fuse carriers, and wiring loom accessories. Weser is exhibiting on a common stand with the members of the German northern group of companies, but has three important new projects of its own on view in model form. It is also associated with the German third stage for the European satellite launcher vehicle, a meteorological sounding rocket and with the WSF-64 cargo helicopter and the Transall C.160—for which Rolls-Royce RB.153s are named as boosters—both of which will be shown in flight. The Weser WFG 614 is a short-range passenger and freight aircraft powered by two Lycoming PLF1B-2 turbofans mounted on pylons above the wing and giving 5,1801b thrust each. A swing nose allows direct loading; cruising speed is 320 m.p.h. and take off distance 1,870ft. Range with 10,0001b payload or 40 passengers is 125 miles and with 6,4001b payload or 24 passengers is 620 miles. There are additionally two projects for tilting-propeller VTOL aircraft for both civil and military applications. The WFG-P16 is powered by two Bristol Siddeley Gnome 1200s and has a VTOL gross weight of 7,5201b, useful load of 9761b, range of 250 miles and top speed of 417 m.p.h. The larger WFG-P23 accommodates 12 passengers or equivalent military loads and weighs 14,4001b. Power- plant is two Lycoming T55s, and payload and range are respectively 2,2001b and 125 miles. Maximum speed is 405 m.p.h.
