In the course of a letter to Flight International Sir Hugh Writes:— "Though the Poles finished the war with us they were fighting before we started; every eighth pilot who fought in the Battle of Britain was a Pole; the Poles served in every theatre of war and every Command during the war; they had 14 operational squadrons and 1,241 Polish airmen died on service; since then many have died as a result of the war." The Association's income is derived from donations and voluntary membership fees and it spends £5,000 a year in helping those in need. Contributions from those who can help should be sent to Air Chief Marshal Lloyd at 14 Collingham Gardens, London SW5. THE RAF BENEVOLENT FUND expended £148,059 during the first quarter of 1963 on the relief of distress or need among serving and ex-Service members of the RAF, WRAF, their families and depen dents.
