FLIGHT International, 29 August 1963 411 Left, the two-seater Sirocco gets its tail up for take-off; below, three further views of the JD-24P twin "Flight International" photographs D.112 F-PKXJ second and Annonay Aero Club's D.119 F-PKMN third. Among the single-seaters, the Coupe Adonis Moulene was won by M Dejussel with Turbulent F-PHFD; second was M Celosse- Goujon's D.9 F-PCOS and third M Palmenty's Turbulent. The Prix Gazuit for the best prototype was awarded jointly to M Durable and M Chanut for their Edelweiss. The weekend ended with the prospect of closer collaboration between the homebuilt-aircraft movements of France, Britain and the USA. PFA officials had lobbied furiously throughout the weekend on behalf of the Rochester rally on September 6-8, for which some of the most interesting of the French light aircraft are now lined up. Paul Poberezny assured David Armstrong that the Experimental Aircraft Association—and its 17,000 members— was keen to work more closely with the British and French associ ations. Certainly the RSA has shown what can be done by enthusiasts in Europe. From the Cinzano to the Calvados at the diner amical, the talk was of light aircraft and how to build them. The photo graphs that were handed round to appreciative murmurs were of aeroplanes, not girls (with the exception of one produced by one of the British Tiger Moth pilots). In spite of appalling weather, some 40 amateur-built aircraft had flown in to Rouen for the rally —40 pieces of evidence that enthusiasm plus good workmanship equals the best possible kind of aviation.
