Painted pale green overall, it was flown by a civilian crew Caravelle Accident A Swissair spokesman said last Monday that investigation had established "with 90 per cent certainty" that a fire in the hydraulic leads and fuel pipes led to the crash of Caravelle HB-lCV on September 4 (see page 452). This fire "was almost cer tainly caused by damage to the under carriage." Correspond ingly, the maximum landing weight has gone up from 40,0001b to 41',506lb. Lockheed 300 Power Since the article on pages 462-65 went to press Lockheed-Georgia Co have advised us that the use of a derated Pratt & Whitney JT3D-8A (TF33-P-7) engine in the L-300 commercial freighter is not definite, only that they are still "seriously considering it." Paul Tissander Diplomas of the FAI have been awarded to W. E. Casley of the Ministry of Aviation's Aeronautical Information Service, L A.Jackson of the Shuttle- Worth Trust, and John Blake of the Royal Aero Club.
