FLIGHT International, 19 September 1963 505-506 SHORT BELFAST There is no prototype of the Belfast, all ten of the SC.5/10 Belfast C.I aircraft for the Royal Air Force being identical production transports. This SCSflQ type of aeroplane is the subject of our artist's detailed cutaway drawing, which has been prepared from a viewpoint to provide the maximum amount of information. In general, the various projected versions of the Belfast are, with the ex ception of the SC.5J40 series, basically similar in appearance, structure and equipment A Air System Al Godfrey Type 215 cabin blower A2 Duct from blowers to (A5) A3 Overboard spill A4 Silencer AS Heat-exchanger A6 Delivery from (A5) to mixing valve A7 Cold-air unit A8 Ram-air to (A7) A9 Exhaust from (A7) AIO A.p.u. bleed for ground condi tioning All Ram-air to (A5) AI2 Ram-air exhaust AI3 Temperature-control valve AI4 Glass-fibre supply duct AIS Recirculation behind trim A16 Safety and relief valve dP 6.55lb/sq in) AI7 Inwards relief valve — 0.5lb/sq AI8 Discharge valve AI9 Manual dump valve CI7 Control-lock cylinder CI8 Anti-float spring CI?
