Westland Sales Manager Westland Aircraft Ltd announces that, in order to strengthen still further its world-wide sales effort in the air- cushion field, it has appointed Mr J. L. Thorne as sales manager (hovercraft). Mr Thome's appointment follows closely upon a recent announcement that the company had decided to lay down a production line of ten SR.N5s without waiting for orders. The move is stated to reflect Westland's continued confidence in future prospects in this new transport field. Mr Thorne was born in 1920 and educated at Grove Park School, Wrex ham, and Corpus Christi, Oxford. He joined Westland in 1960 from Fairey Aviation Ltd (where he was sales managei) on the take-over of that company by Westland. He was appoin- Mr J. L.
