20 FLIGHT International, 23 January 1964 have vacancies in their Halford Laboratory at Hatfield for TECHNICIANS Preferable age group 20/27 years with either Degree, H.N.C. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering. This expanding Department is engaged on important research and develop- ment programmes in connection with the Company's wide range of gas turbine Aero Engines. The work involves arranging tests on all major engine components, analysing and presenting results. Previous experience in this type of work would be an advantage but is not strictly essential. BRACKNELL PUBLIC APPOINTMENTS MINISTRY OF AVIATION PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS REQUIRED IN THE FOLLOWING ESTABLISHMENTS: (1) ROYAL AIRCRAFT ESTABLISHMENT BEDFORD DOST (A) Responsible for the running and mainten-* ance of a wide variety of heavy fixed plant and machinery and limited manufacture in an associatedworkshop. Experience of the supervision of labour is essential. Knowledge of specialised hydraulic and heavyelectrical machinery would be an advantage. (Ref: 2G'/ 53/la). DOST (B) To assist in the development of an automatic•T landing system for application to the Belfast, Trident and VC. 10 aircraft to the safety standardrequired by Civil Aviation. To work in close contact with industry, and to play a major part in devising bench, rigand flight testing methods. Experience of automatic control and servo systems together with an interest inaircraft flight control system is required. Experience in the design and installation of aircraft equipment isdesirable. DOST (C) For work on maintenance and modificationi problems arising from electrical and electronic equipment used in aircraft as standard or experimentalinstallations: this may include servo-mechanisms. A sound knowledge and experience of aircraft electronicsand instrument systems is essential. A knowledge of Service aircraft servicing procedures would be an advan-tage. (Ref: 2G/53/2c). POST (D) To take part in the integration of researchand development on aircrew flying equipment and tomaintain liaison with the Service users of this equipment. To carry out research and development in this fieldgenerally, including the development of improved seats and harnesses, facilities for entry and exit, operationalprocedures for escape and rescue, etc. A broad know- ledge of light engineering, with particular reference toaircraft equipment, and background knowledge ot Service flying with recent experience of the problems ofintegrating items of aircrew equipment, ejection systems. pressure suits, oxygen systems and instrument displays isrequired. In particular, a knowledge of full pressure suits is desirable. (Ref: 2G/53/2d). (3) ELECTRICAL INSPECTION DIRECTORATE BROMLEY, KENT DOST (E) To be responsible for the administration of•T technical staff and the control of executive inspection at Approved and Unapproved firms engaged in theproduction of electrical, photographic and air navigation equipment. Inspection experience and a background mthe light electrical/electronic engineering field is desirable. (Ref: 2G/53/3e). (4) ELECTRICAL INSPECTION DIRECTORATE WOOLWICH, S.E.18 DOST (F) To control a team engaged on the technical i direction of inspection of A.W. warheads including liaison with other authorities through R. & D. stages. Experience of inspection of armaments or similar store is desirable. Knowledge of Metrology and the process control of components in non-metallic materials, mciuoink plastics and explosives, would be advantageous. (Kei 2G/53/4f).
