Plessey-UK puts power in the air The Vickers VC 10 is the only ' clean wing' long-haul jet in production in the Western world. A ' fail safe' aircraft, it was designed to be the most comprehensively safe aircraft ever built. To implement this concept of total safety, the designers chose Plessey-UK equipment and systems. Plessey-UK complete reliability has been proven through use on almost every civil and military aircraft produced in Europe to-day. The VC 10 aircraft of BOAC will demand up to 160 kVA capacity from their Plessey-Westinghouse a.c. generation systems; will call on no fewer than twenty-eight Plessey-UK actuators to provide essential services. Both Plessey-UK Aircraft Mechanical Division and SPE equipment feature in the fuel systems — and Ketay transmitters signal flap alignment angles to the flight deck. In passenger amenity services, in protection, control, wiring and connection—everywhere on the VC 10, in fact—Plessey-UK puts proven power in the air.
