November 27 VAFB, SAC routine training launch with operational missile, success. November 29 VAFB, SAC routine training launch with operational missile, about 5,000 miles, success. December 14 VAFB, two Minuteman missiles launched from silos on flights of about 5,000 miles; results not disclosed. December 20 VAFB, SAC routine training; the 25th Air Force shot from Vandenberg. July 12 (announced) On this date DoD announced a further successful inter- ception by a Zeus from Kwajalein Atoll; the target was the re-entry vehicle of an Atlas launched during SAC troop training at VAFB, on an undisclosed date. July 26 WSMR, successful test using ground guidance equipment. August 8 WSMR, second firing using new booster propellant, test of components of Nike X system, success. August 26 (announced) On this date DoD announced a further successful interception by a Zeus from Kwajalein Atoll; the target was the re-entry vehicle of a Titan I launched during SAC troop training at VAFB on an undisclosed date. August 27 (announced) Similar DoD announcement to that mada on previous day, ftxeept that target vehicle believed provided by Adas. August 30 (announced) On this date DoD announced the ninth successful inter- ception by a Zeus from Kwajalein Atoll; the target was provided by an Atlas launched from VAFB on an undisclosed date. November 29 (announced) On this date DoD announced the tenth successful interception by a Zeus from Kwajalein Atoll; the target was provided by a Titan (type not disclosed) launched from VAFB on an undisclosed date. December 12 WSMR, system test, success. Pershingf August 20 FB, first of series of increased-range missions over land, with impact within boundaries of WSMR, success. Launch unit: 44th Artillery (Ft Sill, Okla). August 27 FB, second long-range shot, success. September 24 B, two launches by A Battery, 2nd Missile Battalion, 44th Artillery, under "near tactical conditions," both successes. September 25 B, repeat firing over 360 miles, success. September 27 B, fourth shot from this location, success. October 14 FW, tactical firing by same battery as September 24. October 16 FW, tactical firing by same battery as September 24. October 21 FW, tactical shot over 200-mile range. October 23 FW, missile exploded immediately after launch, fragments falling into wood. October 28 FW, last of series of 13 extended-range firings into WSMR. November 14 FW, eighth from this location, 230 miles. November 20 FW, firing witnessed by Press. December 5 FW, firing by unit of 41st Artillery. A2 (all firings about 30 miles off the Cape) July 2 USS Lofayette fires two missiles while submerged, both successes; Defense Secretary McNamara on board. These were the 21st and 22nd successes and the 24th and 25th missiles fired during submarine work-up and qualification trials. August 9 USS Alexander Hamilton, two missiles fired by Blue crew, both successes.
