FLIGHT International. 12 March 1964 A case history of 'Mils' Training pilots on advanced fire-control systems is a costly business, but, with the Ferranti Radarscope Recorder, none of that expense need be wasted. On training flights, every radar mode is recorded, with time and event synchronization, and the filmed record produced soon after the sortie ensures that results are quickly interpreted. Pilot training is continuously evaluated, and every flying hour is profitable. In ground training, the films can be used to present radar data to pupils. On operational flights, the Recorder is useful in debriefing and provides permanent evidence of pilot performance and enemy tactics. Radar faults too can be readily pinpointed. Consisting of a miniature c.r.t. display and a 16 mm cine camera, the Recorder weighs only 15 Ib (6.82 kg) and can be installed in any part of the aircraft—valuable cockpit space is not required—no pressurtzation is needed. The Ferranti Radarscope Recorder is in R.A.F. Lightnings and can be supplied for most airborne radars.
