Fleet: one DC-3. Globe Air AG is a Swiss charter operatorregistered in 1957 that started operations late in 1960 with an ex-BEA Ambassador. GlobeAir concentrates on IT flights, in particular to Norway and the Canary Islands, and isoperating such flights from Berne. Globe Air's Dart Heralds operate charter flightsto Palma and other Mediterranean centres, Madeira and the Canary Islands, and are thefirst turboprops to serve a Swiss airline. Globe Air's capital of 1.5m Swiss francs has nowbeen increased to 4m Swiss francs and a Britannia has recently been acquired fromEl Al. Gordon Airways Ltd operates a thrice-dailypassenger service between Windsor (Ontario) and Pelee Island in Lake Erie using oneApache and one Cessna 172. This route was bought from Leavens Bros Ltd in 1963.Gordon Airways also undertake timber patrol and inspection, pest control, flying trainingand general charter work. Grant's Helicopter Transport Service is anAustralian operator that has been negotiating to commence a regular helicopter passengerservice to the holiday suburb of Manly from Sydney. Taxi services are already operatedfrom Melbourne. Other helicopter services from Sydney to Newcastle and Katoombaare envisaged. Executive: James Grant, managing director. Gregory Air Taxis is a newly formed operatorof "on demand" air taxi services, especially for business organizations, which commencedoperations in April 1963. A Pilatus Porter was operated for a time last year but has beenreplaced by a Twin Comanche. Head Office: Denham airfield, near Uxbridge,Middlesex. Executives: K. A. On order: one TwinComanche, one Aztec B. Gronlandsfly was formed in 1960 and startedrecently to operate domestic services within Greenland. Sikorsky S-61 helicopters may beacquired to operate such services from God- thab, the capital of Greenland, to Sonderstrom.The Catalinas and Otters are leased from Eastern Provincial, and the DC-4 is used for icepatrols and for supplying the DEW radar station at Kulusuk. Gronlandsfly's sharecapital i» divided equally between the Green- land Government, the Royal GreenlandTrading Company, the Kryolit Mining Company and SAS.Head Office: Sonderstrom, Greenland. Guest Aerovias Mexico SA was founded in1946 and in 1948 the company opened a service to Madrid but this was later abandoned.The company flies between Mexico City, Guatemala City, Panama/Balboa and Caracas,and also between Mexico City and Miami, using Aeronaves de Mexico DC-8s. Threeex-SAS DC-6s were in 1959 placed on a service from Mexico to Lisbon, Madrid and Paris,but these were replaced on transatlantic services by ex-Thai Super Constellationsacquired through SAS, which provided techni- cal and operational assistance to Guest, andlater by two Comet 4Cs leased from Mexicana. The transatlantic route was discontinued in 1962 but operations to Miami and Madridhave now restarted using an Aeronaves de Mexico DC-8. SAS no longer provides techni-cal and operational assistance to Guest, and no longer has a holding in it, but continues toact as a sales agent for the airline. Guest, was reorganized in 1961 and the SAS holdingbought out. Guest, although retaining its separate identity, is now controlled by Aero-naves de Mexico and State-owned. Bosworth. The company became a subsi- diary of BOAC in the following year. Up to29 services a week are operated between Bahrain and Dhahran and there are alsoservices from Bahrain to Kuwait, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Muscat. AircraftServices (Gulf) Ltd is a subsidiary of Gulf Aviation. Head Office: Bahrain.Executives: Capt A. Bodger, general manager/ secretary; Capt D. W. Pallet, chief pilot; E.Fenton, chief engineer. Fleet: one Viscount, four DC-3, four Heron,one Dove. Guyana Airways Corporation was until late in1963 known as British Guiana Airways (Govt)—BGA. In 1934 A. J. Williams, a UScitizen, began charter operations in British Guiana with a single-engined Ireland flying-boat. The business prospered and in 1939 Mr Williams founded British Guiana AirwaysLtd to operate regular, subsidized services. By the end of the war the company hadacquired Dakotas and Goose amphibians. In July 1955 the Government bought out theairline, and its name was changed to British Guiana Airways (Govt) and to GuyanaAirways Corporation in 1963. The company operates scheduled domestic services as wellas charter flying both domestically and to neighbouring territories. Head Office: Box 102, Georgetown, BritishGuiana. Executives: J. M. Hagerstown Commuter is the name underwhich Henson Aviation Inc, a US taxi operator, flies a thrice-daily service every weekdaybetween Hagerstown, Maryland, and Wash- ington, DC. Operations started on April 23,1962. Head Office: Hagerstown, Maryland, USA.Executive: R. A. Henson, president. Fleet: one Aero Commander 560A, one Beech18, one Travel Air. two Bonanza. Hawaiian Air Tours is an air taxi and charteroperator that lost a Dove in an accident in Hawaii on April 29, 1963, on a sightseeingflight. Hawaiian Airways was founded in January1929 as Inter-Island Airways. The Inter-Island Steam Navigation Co held 76 per cent of theoriginal stock, services were begun in Novem- ber 1929 and Sikorsky S-38C amphibian bi-planes were used. S-43 monoplane amphibians entered service in 1935. The present title wasadopted in 1941 and it was in that year that DC-3s were first introduced. The airline'sservices link Hawaii, Maui, Lanai, Molokai, Kauai and Honolulu (on Oahu Island). Manyinter-island freight services are operated. 513 Hawaiian Airlines can claim two distinc-tions; they were the first American scheduled carrier to employ all-cargo aircraft on freightservices (S-43 amphibians were used) and their safety record is unique, the airline having neverhad a single fatal accident in the 34 years' ser- vice of operation since its foundation. Hawkair (Pty) Ltd is a South African charteroperator that was bought in 1960 by W.Sterne of the Aviation Corporation of Africa (Pty)Ltd, who are Beechcraft distributors for Africa. Hawthorne Nevada Airlines is the operatingname of Mineral County Airlines Inc and operates a scheduled DC-3 service betweenLos Angeles and Hawthorne, Nevada. This carrier flies on an air taxi certificate. Inclusivetour flights in the US western states are also undertaken.Fleet: one DC-3. Helicopter Airways Service Inc operates taxiand charter services as well as aerial photo- graphy from Detroit, also an FAA-approvedrepair station and helicopter flight school. Head Office: Detroit Metropolitan WayneCounty Airport, Inkster, Michigan. Executive: R. H. James, president and generalmanager. Employees: 4. Fleet: Hiller UH-12E, UH-12E4, UH-12B,UH-12C. Helicopter and Airplane Services Corp beganoperations in the Washington area during August 1962, and offers charter services toassist engineering and construction projects. Helicopter Utilities (Pry) Ltd was founded in1957 and operates helicopters on charter, concentrating particularly on survey work.Head Office: Bankstown Airport, NSW, Australia.Executives: L. C. Heli-Europe is a newly formed helicoptercharter operator that is a subsidiary of Heli- Union of France and Schreiner Aero Con-tractors of Holland. Heli-U nion offers charter and aerial work services with Alouettes andwas formed in 1961 by a chemical firm. Head Office: Brussels, Belgium.Fleet: Alouette. Helikopter Service AS, founded in 1956 asScanopter Servjces AS, operates non-scheduled helicopter services in Norway.
