FUGHT International, 2 April 1964 519 Fleet: one Beech D-18S, two DC-3, two DC-4.three DC-6, two DC-6B. Mac.Robertson Miller Airlines—MMA beganoperations on October 1, 1955, following the merger of Mac.Robertson Miller Aviation Co(Pty) Ltd and Airlines (WA) Ltd. The former, a successor to the Commercial Aviation Cofounded by Capt H. C. Miller shortly after the first world war, operated extensively in SouthAustralia until 1939 when all routes there were handed over to Guinea Airways Ltd. TheWest Australian services were taken over from West Australian Airways Ltd on October 3,1934. On that date a D.H.84 Dragon service was instituted, operating Perth - Daly Waters,to make the WA link with the new Sydney - London Empire Air Mail route. Airlines(WA) Ltd began operations between Perth and Wiluna via Kalgoorlie in 1935, and the twocompanies built up extensive experience in air- line operation throughout the length of thewest coast of Australia and its allied inland dis- tricts. It is over this entire area that MMAoperates scheduled services. In 1963 Ansett- ANA acquired a controlling interst in MMA.On December 28, 1959, MMA commenced operating a Friendship on the Darwin - Perthroute; a second Friendship is expected in May 1964. Madair—see Air Madagascar, Maddux Airlines is a US carrier that beganoperating a daily service in September, 1962 between Van Nuys, California and Las Vegas,Nevada. Head Office: Van Nuys, California.Executive: Eugene D. Maddux, manager. Madras Presidency Airways (Private) Ltd operates charter services from Madras.Head Office: Madras, India. Fleet: two Rapide, one Argus. Magic City Airways is a recently formed USnon-scheduled carrier operating a Constella- tion. Head Office: Miami, USA.Fleet: one L-049E Constellation. Malaysian Airways, until recently known asMalayan Airways, was founded in 1947 and is associated with BOAC and Qantas who are itsmajor shareholders. Other shareholders are the Governments of the Federation of Malay-sia, Sarawak, Brunei and Sabah. Malaysian Airways has a small interest in Borneo Air-ways. Friendships operate between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur and principal points in theBorneo territories. These services are sup- ported by DC-3s in the Federation of Malaysiaand in Borneo. DC-3s also operate to Bang- kok. A Comet 4 leased from BOAC operates aSingapore-Hong Kong service four times weekly direct, thrice weekly via KualaLumpur and twice-weekly via Jesselton. It also flies to Penang, Bangkok, Saigon andKuching. AH these overseas flights operate under the name "Silver Kris Jet Services."Head Office: Airways House, Raffles Place, Singapore. Executives: K. Malaysia Air Charter began operations inMay 1962 and offers a variety of charter services including air taxi, aerial survey, cropspraying, aerial advertising and supply drop- ping by parachute. One aircraft is also basedat Singapore and another at Sandakan, British North Borneo. Head Office: The Airport, Kuala Lumpur, Malaya. Executives: Capt F. J. Bussell, managingdirector; Mrs E. A. Bussell, manager. Fleet: one Cessna 310G, two Cessna 185. Malev-Magyar Legikozlekedesi Vallalat was founded in March 1946 as Maszovlet (Magyar-Szovjet Polgari L6gikozlekedesi Tarsasag) with a Hungarian and Soviet holding in thecapital. Operations commenced on October 15, 1946, and it was converted into a state-owned Hungarian company in 1954 when the present title was adopted. Services are opera-ted internally and from Budapest to Amster- dam, Athens, Belgrade, Berlin, Brussels,Bucharest, Cairo, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Helsinki, London, Moscow, Paris, Prague,Rome, Sofia, Stockholm, Tirana, Warsaw, Vienna and Zurich. Head Office: V. V6rosmarty-t6r 5, Budapest.Fleet: four 11-18, ten 11-14, also Li-2. Malta Airlines, The. This concern is anassociate of BEA and consists of the Malta Airways Co Ltd and its wholly owned sub-sidiary Air Malta Co Ltd. BEA operates the routes of The Malta Airlines between Maltaand Italy, France, the United Kingdom and Libya. The BEA shareholding is 34 per cent.Head Office: Airways House, High Street, Sliema. Malta GC. Executives: Lt-Col R. Strickland, chairman;J. T. Crossey, general manager. Malta Metropolitan Airlines is a newly-formedcharter operator that began operations in 1963 with a DC-4. Malta Metropolitan also appliedto operate scheduled services from Malta to London, and to Catania and Palermo inSicily; two Heron 2s would have been used for the Sicily services. Manx Airlines—see British United Airways. Maritime Central Airways—MCA is a privatecompany which began regular service in 1941 between Charlottetown on Prince EdwardIsland and Moncton, New Brunswick. With its mixed fleet the company undertook charterwork and maintained regular services to New Glasgow, Halifax, Summerside, Moncton,Charlottetown, the Magdalen Islands, Seven Islands, Stephenville, St John's, Gander,Goose Bay, Saglek and Frobisher. MCA was taken over, together with its routes, by EasternProvincial in the spring of 1963. Head Office: Charlottetown, Prince EdwardIsland, Canada. Fleet: two C-46, four DC-3, one Beaver. Marshall Airways operates non-scheduled andcharter services and undertakes aerial work. Head Office: Kingsford Smith Airport, Sydney,NSW, Australia. Executive: S. Marshall, managing director.Fleet: one Douglas DC-2, one Lockheed L.10B, one D.H.84 Dragon, one Avro Cadet,one Puss Moth. Martin's Air Charter was formed in April 1958and operates non-scheduled and charter services from Schiphol, besides acting asCessna agents. The Doves are used for sight- seeing flights over Amsterdam. Aerialphotography is also undertaken. A KLM DC-7C is to be used for IT flights this year.Martin's has now taken over Fairways Rotterdam.Head Office: Schiphol, Amsterdam. Executives: J. M. Schroder, managing director;J. N. Matane Air Services Ltd was founded in 1947to operate charter services across the St Lawrence from Matane. In 1952 regularservices were opened from Matane to Fran- quelin, Godbout, Trinity Bay, Pentecote andPort Cartier (Shelter Bay). Since early 1957 the company has been the only carrier servingthese points until 1963, when Franquelin and Pentecote were no longer served, and in addi-tion has been stopping at Bate Comeau. In March, 1961, Matane commenced services tothe Manicouagan 5 dam construction site. Two ex-TCA DC-3s are now operated.Head Office: Box 1900, Matane, Quebec, Canada. Executives: G. Maya Airways Corp was formed in 1962 toreplace British Honduras Airways, which had ceased operations. Unlike BHA, which was aBWIA subsidiary, Maya is backed by local businessmen. Domestic services from Belizeto six other points in British Honduras are operated with Cessnas, and Belize is linked toMerida (Mexico) and San Pedro Sula (Hon- duras) by DC-3. Mayflower Air Services Ltd was formed inMarch 1961 to stimulate and develop air services in the west of England. During 1961charter operations were carried out under a Class B licence, and in December of that yeara Class A licence for scheduled services was granted, and these are operated betweenExeter, Plymouth, Newquay and the Scilly Isles. Licences have now been granted forservices between Bristol, Cardiff and the Scillies. In February 1963 Mayflower AirServices was incorporated as a limited com- pany. Mayflower was recently purchased byScillonian Air Services but will continue to operate under its own name.Head Office: Plymouth Airport. Executives: Sq Ldr K. P. H. Cleife, AFC,director; A. J. Landon, managing director. Employees: 4. Fleet: three Rapide. The Twin Pioneer is tobe used later. McAlpine Aviation, the aviation division ofSir Robert McAlpine and Sons, the civil engineers, started to offer taxi and charterservices on October 1, 1963 with aircraft that it had been operating on business use. Opera-tions are based at Luton, and two more Helio Super Couriers are to be acquired.Head Office: Luton Airport, Bedfordshire. Executive: Capt Turner, operations superin-tendent. Fleet: two Cessna 310, one Piaggio P. 166,one Piaggio P.166B Portofino, one Helio Super Courier. McMurray Air Service Ltd has since 1947 operated charter services in the Canadian prairie provinces.Head Office: Uranium City, Saskatchewan, Canada.Executives: H. Burry, president; R. Burry, vice-president.Fleet: two Cessna 180, two Beaver, two Otter, one Norseman, one Beech C-18S floatplane,one Beech D-18S landplane. Mediteravia SpA is an Italian operator ofnon-scheduled and charter services that commenced operations in the summer of 1959with an ex-Airnautic Viking. This company is believed to have ceased operations, and itsViking does not have a current C of A. Head Office: Piazza Duomo 21, Milan, Italy.Fleet: one Viking. Meravo Luftreederei Fluggeselschaft is aGerman helicopter operator that undertakes taxi flights, aerial advertising and film-makingflights, as well as operating a helicopter pilot school.Head Office: Wurtemburg, Germany. Executive: K. E. Merckle, director.Fleet: three Hiller UH-12B, one Bell 47J, two Brantly B-2. Mercury Airlines Ltd operates scheduled ser-vices from Manchester to Newcastle, to Exeter and to Sandown, Isle of Wight. Liverpool andLeeds/Bradford are also linked to Exeter and the Isle of Wight, and a licence to serve Corkfrom Newcastle and/or Leeds/Bradford has been granted. Charter work is also under-
