FLIGHT International, 16 April 1964 The only moving part on Collins'new 51R-7 YOR/LOC navigation unit is the handle. Elimination of all relays, contacts, shafts, cams, and tubes raises the reliability of the Collins Solid State 51R-7 VOR/LOC navigation unit to a level never before achieved in general aviation electronics. Chances are good that you will wear out or sell your airplane before the 51R-7 requires any maintenance. • In addition, elimination of many of the parts required in tube-type equipment allows both the 50 kc spaced receiver and instrumentation unit to be packaged in one 334" W, 5" H, 10" D, 7.3 lb. box. • Installation is greatly simplified because the 51R-7 requires no expensive shockmount, and may be mounted on any axis — even upside down. • TSO'd, as is all Collins equipment, the 51R-7 is the perfect companion piece for the revolu- tionary Collins PN-101 Pictorial-Symbolic Navigation System. • For more information about the Collins 51R-7, and the 51R-8 which provides an automatic, RMI function, contact COLLINS RADIO COMPANY OF ENGLAND, LTD., 242 London Road, Staines, Middlesex, England COLLINS Second Class Postage Paid at New York, N.Y.
