FLIGHT International, 23 April 1964 Revolutionary application for tactical military aircraft!... • Versatility is one of the outstanding features of this new attitude refer- ence made by L.S.I., Instrument Divi- sion. • It represents an improved version of the L.S.I, two-gyro reference now in quantity production for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy. It is an all- attitude angular reference, consisting of a roll-and-pitch stabilized direc- tional gyro and a "no-gimbal lock" vertical gyro. • When used with a Compass Adap- ter, Reference Amplifier and Compass Controller it provides a complete pitch and roll stabilized Compass System which can be used in either free or slaved mode. The new attitude reference is currently utilized in this manner on the Republic F-105 and Convair F-106 interceptor-fighters. • The new unit can also be combined with bombing system components, resulting in the all-attitude indicat- ing, slaved compass, and low-altitude bombing system used in the McDon- nell F4A, F4C and the Douglas A4C and A4E. • The new Two-Gyro Master Refer- ence combines performance, reliabil- ity, maintainability, and low cost. • It is exclusively represented over- seas by American Avitron. • Write ID-1-4 Division of American Avitron for technical details.
