Macchi M.B.326D Aermacchi Lockheed 60 Messerschmitt Me P 160 (artist's impression) MAN Turbomotoren GmbH, Dachauer Strasse 667, 8 Munich 68, West Germany. Under an agreement concluded four years ago, this company is not only producing sec- tions of the Rolls-Royce Tyne engine, together with French and Belgian companies, for the Breguet Atlantic and Transall C.I60, but has carried out the development of the Rolls- Royce RB.145 lift engines and their instal- lation in the Sudring VJ 101 C VTOL proto- type. They are now engaged in the joint development with Rolls-Royce of the MAN Rolls-Royce RB.153, a 7,0551b thrust turbojet with deflected thrust for the forthcoming VJ 101 D. MAN are exhibiting on a joint stand with Rolls-Royce. Messerschmitt AG, Postfach 322, Augsberg, West Germany. In model form Messerschmitt are showing their projects for the Me 308 Jet Taifun six-seat executive jet, Me P 160 54-seat short-range jet transport and Me P 141 light twin-turboprop cargo aircraft for underdeveloped areas. These were first exhibited during the Paris Salon last year. Messerschmitt-designed equipment also on show includes a device for strength- checking milled test pieces, a universal hydrau- lic test stand and an undercarriage for a high- performance Mach 2 aircraft. Messier, Boite Postale 55, Montrouge, France. On a combined stand with their German licensees Liebberr-Aero-Technik, Messier are exhibiting main undercarriage units of the Transall and Mirage IV, the Fiat G.91/R3 undercarriage made under licence by Liebherr, an Alouette III nosewheel assembly, a three- pad brake for high-performance aircraft and various forged components from Messier* s foundry at Arudy. Working exhibits show the retraction geometry of the Mirage IIIR main leg and an electro-hydraulic precision nose- wheel steering system. Finally, there are high- pressure hydraulic pumps for flow rates from one to 25gal/min and hydraulic equipment with double-acting electric controller and air- operated electrical valve for the control of thrust and approach power in turbojet engines. These last-named components are designed to operate in high temperatures. Metallwerk Plansee AG, Reutte, Tirol, Austria. This company specializes in forming high temperature metals such as tungsten, moly- bdenum, tantalum and niobium and is showing examples of parts formed in these materials by flow turning. One item is a molybdenum nozzle for spacecraft propulsion application. Large sheets of tungsten, used in circumstances where high heat resistance and small size are required, are also produced.
