fLIGHT International, 7 May 1964 27 ON TOP OF THE WORLD High in the forbidding Himalayan mountains of Northern India, Canadian built Caribou aircraft are performing a vital support role in the service of the Indian Armed Forces. Extreme altitudes, makeshift airstrips sometimes no more than 900 feet in length and/adverse climatic conditions are matched by the rugged dependability and STOL capability of this utility aircraft. In and out through jagged mountain passes the Caribou airlifts 3x/2 tons of supplies, 34 troops or ready to use military and commercial vehicles in its spacious cabin. The large rear door allows loading and unloading in minutes. Shown in a typical Himalayan setting is one of the 16 de Havilland Canada CARIBOU aircraft of the INDIAN AIR FORCE. THE DE HAVILLAND <d^> AIRCRAFT OF CANADA LIMITED A MEMBER OF THE HAWKER SIDDELEY GROUP REPRESENTATIVE: P. R. Fowler. 9a Ratendone Rd. New Delhi 11.
