FLIGHT International, 4 June (964 CARIBOU AND KANGAROO ...An unlikely combination, but it has become a reality in the Royal Australian Air Force Caribou which proudly bears the Kangaroo roundel. Chosen because of its STOL ability to utilize short, rough, improvised bush and jungle airstrips carrying 3V2 ton loads,the Caribou will take off in 700 feet and climb at 1,300 feet per minute. Flying under the flags of the United Nations, United States, Ghana, India, Kuwait, Sweden, and Formosa, the Caribou has proved its capabilities as a rugged, short-haul transport utility aircraft.
