TRANSair—Danish Air Taxi—not to beconfused with the Swedish airline of similar name, is a Danish carrier which concentrates on taxi and executive flying both domesticallyand internationally. Flying training (VFR and IFR), photographic flying and banner towing are also carried out.Head Office: Hangar 142, Copenhagen Airport South, Drag0r, Denmark.Executive: Chr. Fahrner. Fleet: one Cessna 310G, one Cessna Skymaster,four Cessna 172, one Cessna 182, four Cessna 150. TransAir was formed in 1956 by the merger ofCentral Northern Airways and Arctic Wings. CNA was formed in 1947 to acquire andoperate some bush routes formerly operated by Canadian Pacific. Arctic Wings, based atChurchill on Hudson Bay, had been operating scheduled passenger and mail flights. TransAiroperates scheduled services from Winnipeg over two intermediate-stopping routes toChurchill; from Winnipeg to Regina; from Churchill to Ottawa and Montreal; fromWinnipeg to Red Lake; and from Churchill to Coral Harbour. With the acquisition of AirCanada's Prairie routes in 1963, the network of scheduled services was extended westwardto Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert. From its major bases at Winnipeg and Churchill thecompany operates the vertical re-supply airlift to the main sites in the Canadian sector of theDEW Line. Transair Sweden AB operates inclusive toursfor Swedish, Danish, Swiss and German travel agencies, and undertakes charter flyingwith passengers and freight all over the world. C-46 and DC-6 services in the Congo have beenoperated under charter to the United Nations and the Congolese Government, and alsoC-46 freight services to Germany on behalf of SAS. Domestic services within the Congoare now operated with one DC-6 and four C-46s under the name of Transair Congo.Transair has recently bought ten DC-7Bs and leased one from Eastern Air Lines, they arebeing successively delivered after overhaul. Trans-Australia Airlines is controlled on behalfof the Commonwealth Government by the Australian National Airlines Commission. Operations began on September 9, 1946, andTAA's route network now covers 42,393 miles, including 7,134 miles within the Territory ofPapua-New Guinea. The network of routes links about 100 pointsin Australia and another 41 in Papua-New Guinea. These include all major cities,secondary towns and small settlements included on multi-stop local service networksin Queensland, Central Australia and Papua- New Guinea. On December 18, 1954, TAAbecame the first Australian airline to operate Viscounts; its first Friendship service was onMay 1, 1959, and Electra operations began on July 8, 1959. On November 2, 1964, Boeing727 services started on inter-capital routes. The first commercial helicopter services jnAustralia were started in April, 1956, and in December 1960 the first regular helicopterpassenger service, between Melbourne and Essendon airport, was introduced. A lightaircraft division has been formed and has started operating services around Tasmania,and to islands of the Great Barrier Reef. TAA also operates Doves, based at Darwinand Alice Springs, for the Northern Territory Australian Medical Service, and Drovers forthe Royal Flying Doctor Service at its four Queensland bases. Trans-Canada Air Lines—see Air Canada. Trans Caribbean Airways operates 24 DC-8F services a week between New York and San Juan, Puerto Rico, plus four more DC-8Fservices a week to Aruba. Trans International Airlines Inc is a US intra-state and contract carrier specializing in military charter work. The DC-8s operateacross the Pacific for MATS. TIA was a wholly-owned subsidiary of the StudebakerCorporation, but 100% control was bought last year by GlenJdrk Inc. It was formed asLos Angeles Air Service in December 1948; the name was changed in July 1960; Studebakerbought the carrier in October 1962. Head Office: McCarran Field, Las Vegas,Nevada, USA. Trans-Mediterranean Airways SAL—(TMA> —was formed in 1953 to fly fresh produce foroil companies in the Persian Gulf. In 1959 it became a joint-stock company with a paid upcapital of £L6m and obtained Lebanese Government approval for regular freightflights. It is not under Government control TMA operates regular services to Basle andFrankfurt in Europe, and to Kuwait, Dhahran, Teheran, Doha, Kabul and Bahrein in theMiddle East. Regular services to London are planned and the airline intends also to operateto Tokyo, Addis Ababa, Nairobi and new points in Europe and the Middle East.Head Office: PO Box 3018, Beirut, Lebanon. Trans-Oceanic Lines planned to operateservices with two Catalinas from the African mainland to the Seychelle Islands. There hasbeen no news about these services. Transpac—Societe Caledonienne de Trans-portes Aeriens operates services between Noumea and Isle of Pines, Lifu, Houailu,Poindimie, Uvea, Kone, Koumac and Mare. Transporte Aereo Mirleni, now AeroviasHalcon, is an Argentine carrier that started non-scheduled operations with a DC-4.Head Office: Piedras 666, Buenos Aires. Transportes Aereos Benianos SA is a Bolivian operator of charter and non-scheduled services. Fleet: one DC-4. Transportes Aereos Buenos Aires SA operatesservices radiating southwards from Buenos Aires as far as Necochea.Head Office: Avenida Cordoba 949, Buenos Aires, Argentina.Fleet: four Beech 18, one Cessna T-50, one Cessna 170. Transportes Aereos Catarinense SA operatesmainly coastal routes north from Florianopolis to Rio de Janeiro in conjunction with Cruzeirodo Sul, which provides technical assistance.
