Cornets link Singapore and Kuala Lumpur with HongKong, Manila, Taipei, Bangkok, Djakarta and Perth, while a 707 leased from Qantasoperates a Singapore-Djakarta-Perth-Sydney service. Domestic Comet flights operate be-tween Singapore and Kuala Lumpur; also from Singapore to Kuching and Jesseltonin East Malaysia. F.27s operate between Singapore and the major points in WestMalaysia, within East Malaysia and Brunei. These services are supported by DC-3s.MSA took over Borneo Airways on April 1, 1965. Mediterranean Airlines (Malta) Ltd was formed in 1967 as an associate of ChannelAirways and plans to begin operations this year using Trident IE-140s and One-Elevens leased from Channel, which has a 49% holding, the three chief executivesholding the remaining 51%. Routes are planned from Malta to Paris and London,to Dusseldorf and London, to Tunis and to Munich and Copenhagen.Head Office: Valetta, Malta. Megapode Airways started scheduled andcharter opsrations during December 1963. PN Merpati-Nusantari is the government-owned associate of Garuda Indonesian Air- ways formed in 1964 to operate domesticroutes taken over by Garuda after the Dutch feeder operator, de Kroonduif, wasnationalised in 1963. Merpati operates mainly in West Irian (formerly Dutch NewGuinea). Three Twin Otters, bought for the United Nations by ICAO, are being oper-ated by Merpati-Nusantara on behalf of the FLIGHT International, II April t96e Indonesian Government. Chatham Aviation, Command Airways and Princeton Aviation form aconsortium to operate scheduled commuter air services for American Airlines pas-sengers arriving at Port of New York Authority airports. Metropolitan Air Movements Ltd wasformed in June 1960 and is the holding company for a number of subsidiariesincluding British Westpoint Airlines, May- flower Air Services, and Aero ExplorationLtd. The company specialises in the pro- vision of aircraft on charter and contract,particularly to overseas areas, and offers operational and management consultancyfor aviation and airline operators. MAM concluded an agreement with Libyan Avia-tion for the complete operational manage- ment of that company. Operations are basedat Exeter and Gatwick Airports. Middle East Airlines Airliban was foundedas a private concern in 1945. In 1949- Pan American Airways acquired 35% of Mt^stock, but withdrew from the company in 1955. when BOAC took at 48.5% share-holding. In August 1961, MEA bought BOAC's shares in the company and meairline was then a completely independent Lebanese organisation. Since the agreement for joint exploitation with Air ueaj in 1963 Air France has had a 30% holding. In November 1965 Air Liban mergea into Middle East Airlines, and the com-pany became known as Middle fastA" lines Airliban. An extensive networK mservices connects points throughout iu Middle East.
