Collins, in conjunction with Lear-Siegler, are pro ducing the automatic flight control system, including instruments, for the Lockheed 1011. The FD-108 and FEM09 flight systems are three-dimensional, two-instrument navi gation/attitude displays incorporating head ing, pitch and roll, VOR/ILS data, DME distance and computed steering commands; and using 5in or 4in square flight directors and course indicators. Radio altitude and go-around information, standard in FD-109, is optional in FD-108. Future FD-109 developments will incor porate provision of cross-pointer computed- command, as well as V-bar information; modification of the course indicator for Right, the entire planar surface of this English Electric Sierraglo electro luminescent plastic-laminate control panel—one of several fitted in the Concorde engineer's station—is a light source operation from INS as well as VOR/ILS data inputs; and inclusion of internal servo amplifiers. Navigational displays include 2,500ft to Oft tape and pointer radio altimeters with facilities for selecting minimum decision altitude logic and built-in self-test; DME indicators; drift and ground-speed counter- pointer Doppler indicators; and Doppler two-channel computer indicators showing track-made-good, distance-from-track and distance-to-go. Cockpit panels are manufactured to cover the frequency selection of comm/nav systems and the control of audio-mixing systems within the aircraft.
