922 FLIGHT International, S June 1969 On May 7 the SIAI-built prototype of the Italian-Swiss SA.202 Bravo made a first flight. The Swiss FFA prototype flew on April 7. Production deliveries of this twojfour-seat, fully aerobatic trainer/tourer are now being promised for November this year. Powerplant is either a IIS h.p. or ISO h.p. Lycoming A beagle Pup ISO awaiting delivery to Iraq. The trainer is also being delivered in quantity to flying schools in Iran Guild and the Private Pilot The Court of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators has approved the formation, of a new committee, the Private and Executive Committee, to strengthen the Guild's representation of the interests of private pilots, who form an important section of its membership. The chairman is Mr Charles Smith, of Maidenhead, an enthusiastic private pilot who uses his own Beagle 206 for business purposes and has held a PPL since 1963. The committee's terms of reference are: (1) to keep under review the curriculae of basic ground and flying training and to watch over the standards of examination, flying tests and privileges of licences and ratings for private pilots; (2) to ensure that Private Pilot Licence/ Instrument Rating standards of competency in the air are comparable with those required for the professional pilot; and (3) to consider air safety matters and the facilitation of traffic arising from the common use of airspace by both the private and professional pilots. The Court points out that in setting up the new committee the Guild has no wish to enter into competition with the BLAC nor to encroach on its flying training and club activities. "But," it adds, "there are three worlds of aviation using common airspace: public transport, general aviation and military aviation. The Guild is unique in that it can to their common benefit represent and also co-ordinate the views of three interests." Air Rally at Agricultural Show The organisers of the East of England Agricultural Show at Peterborough are holding an air rally to coincide with the event. The meeting will be in two parts, a one-day rally on July 15 for those visiting the show from within the British Isles, and a two-day rally on July 15 and 16 for those from the Continent. These events will take place at Sibson Airfield, which is 5 n.m. west of Peterborough. Details can be obtained from Peterborough Aero Club at Sibson. Entry fees will be £1 per aircraft, plus £1 per person, for both events, and will include free admission to the summer show by guest badge, and for lunch in the members' enclosure. A special landing time prize will refund entry fees to the winner. Transport will be provided between Sibson and the show ground. Helicopter Training at Fairoaks Alan Mann Helicopters Ltd, based at Fairoaks Aerodrome, Chobham, Surrey, has entered the limited ranks of British civilian flying schools equipped to give helicopter flying instruction. He will also be in charge of the pilot service department and will handle BLAC Press and public relations in succession to Mr John Blake, who is now competitions manager of the Royal Aero Club. On the administrative side of the Centre's work Mr Horder will be associated with the day-to-day work of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Division.
