332 FLIGHT (ntemotrono/, 5 March 1970 AIR TRANSPORT.. LIGHT COMMERCIAL & BUSINESS First Cessna 414 in Britain was recently demonstrated at Westair Flying Services, Blackpool, a Cessna full-line dealer. Flown by Jim Dale of Cessna's Brussels office, the pressurized 414 is seen taking off from Blackpool in company with "Flight's" Baron Gulfstream II for RTZ The Rio Tinto-Zinc Corporation Ltd has recently purchased a Grumman Gulfstream II and will take delivery in late May. The aircraft will be used by RTZ directors and senior executives within the group for world wide flights. Two turboprop Gulfstream Is are already in operation with group companies in Australia, in addition to the BH-125 at present operated from London for shorter-range flights. EJA Sub-agents appointed Through Roebuck Air Charter (its British agent), Executive Jet Aviation, the Basle-based Lear Jet rental company, has appointed British Executive Air Ser vices at Kidlmgton and Transportation Facilities at Newcastle as sub-agents, as part of a plan to appoint sub-agents in each major British city in order to bring the EJA service in close When the King of Nepal's personal aircraft was damaged while opera ting at a small Himalayan mountain airstrip recently, a Short Skyvan, in Nepal for sales demonstrations, flew in spares, including a replace ment engine. During its stay in Nepal the Skyvan operated from Kat mandu into numerous small strips up to 10,000ft, 3,050m above sea level. It carried a full 18-passenger load in and out of Lukla, a 1,200ft, 365m strip over 9,500ft, 2,900m above sea level and with a gradient of one-in-ten touch with provincial businessmen who are not serviced by international airports. Lear Jet Orders Air Pegasus, the Hanover-based air charter company, has ordered one ten-seat Lear Jet 25 and three eight-seat Lear Jet 24Bs, with deliveries scheduled to begin in April. The new orders increase the worldwide number of Lear Jets flown by air taxi and charter operators to slightly more than 50 with 14 in Europe. Executive Air Fleet Corporation has commenced operations in Los Angeles, Calif. EAF, which manages, operates and supports jet aircraft for corporations, currently has seven aircraft based at Long Island's MacArthur Airport and two aircraft based at Los Angeles International Airport. The present fleet includes two Dash S JetStars, two Gates Lear Jet 25s, a Falcon, a BH-125 (series 400). a Gulfstream I, a Commodore Jet and a Bell JetRanger. Perth to train Pilots for Uganda Air Service Training, Perth, has been awarded a four-year contract to establish and operate a pilot training school in Uganda on behalf of 1CAO. The contract covers the setting up of a training organisation, provision of qualified staff and the management of the new establishment. At Perth, the company's £500,000 expansion programme is nearing completion. It includes the construction of hard-surfaced training runways—which are already finished— together with new technical and residential accommodation due for completion in early summer this year. Qualitron Aero of Fort Worth, Texas, which specialises in aircraft electronics installations, has been acquired by Tenneco of Houston. Qualitron provides aircraft and helicopter support activities for business fleet and airline operators, and owners of private aircraft. The company operates two major facilities, Qualitron Burbank in California and Qualitron Greater Southwest in Texas. Skycabs Flying The Cessna Super Skymaster, G-ATNY, of Skycabs has just completed l,200hr of operations in just over 3i years. In that lime the aircraft has flown over 200,000 statute miles, carried over 1,500 passengers and landed at 105 different European airports. Mack Trucks of Allentown, Pennsylvania has added a Lear Jet 24B to its corporate jet fleet. The company calls its fleet —now four-strong—"Bulldog Airlines" and the Lear will become "Mack VIII."
