In addition IHI has been selected as prime contractor for Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industries' 20,0001b, 90.72kN, advanced-technology commercial turbofan project. KAWASAKI Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. Headquarters: Kobe. Public company engaged in shipbuilding, rolling stock, general engi neering, aircraft and aircraft turbine manufacture. 1969 corporate sales up at Yen37,000 million, £433 million, of which aero-engine sales represented extremely small pro portion. Kawasaki's prime aero-engine activity is licensed-manufacture of Lycoming T53-L-13 1,400 s.h.p., l,044kW turboshafts for Japanese-built Bell UH-1B helicopters. MITSUBISHI Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. Headquarters: Tokyo. Public company engaged in heavy engineering, aircraft and aircraft turbine manufacture, 1969 corporate sales up at Yen65,000 million, £761 million, of which aero-engine sales represented extremely small proportion. Mitsubishi's prime aero-engine activity is licensed-manufac ture of Allison T63-A-5A 317 s.h.p. 236kW turboshafts for JGDF Hughes 369HM helicopters. POLAND IL Instytut Lotnictwa. Headquarters: Warsaw. National aviation institute engaged in general aerospace R&D including aircraft turbine development. IL's only known aero-engine is the erstwhile SO-1 2,2051b, lOkN, turbojet powering early versions of the WSK-Mielec TS-1I Iskra trainer. Although further development of the SO-1 is understood to have taken place, the TS-1I is currently powered by the HO-10 1,7601b, 8kN, turbojet of undesignated Polish origin. PZL Polskie Zaklady Lotnicze. Headquarters: Warsaw. National corporation engaged in aero-engine manufacture. PZL's activities embrace licensed-manufacture of Russian piston and turbine engines including the Isotov GTD-350 395 s.h.p. 295kW turboshaft for Polish-built Mil Mi-2 helicopters. SOUTH AFRICA ATLAS Atlas Aircraft Corporation of South Africa (Pty) Ltd. Head quarters: Kempton Park, Transvaal. Subsidiary company of State-owned Armaments Development and Production Cor poration of South Africa Ltd. Atlas engaged in aircraft and aircraft turbine manufacture. South Africa's sole aero-engine concern, Atlas manufactures Rolls-Royce Viper 11 2,5001b, 11.3kN, turbojet (under sub licence from Piaggio) for Atlas-built Macchi MB.326M trainer/ light attack aircraft.
