724 FLIGHT International, 18 May 1972 The RAF Red Arrows aerobatics team will be seen for the first time in the United States during Transpo '72. Movement within the million square feet exhibition area will be fadlitated by the four personal rapid-transit systems ("people movers") which have been installed for evaluation and which will continue tests on the site after the exhibition has closed. Both surface and suspended types will be seen. Under the general title of the International Congress of Transportation Conferences, six separate conferences will be held during the period from May 31 to June 2. Of particular concern to aviation interests will be the National Air Transportation Meeting, which is to consider the impact of air transport on the investor, the consumer and the community, and the International Forum for Air Cargo, which will be mainly concerned with containerisa- tion in air transport and its effect on terminal freight A vehicle every lOsec is the proposed frequency of operation of the Monocab personal rapid-transport system. Two electrically driven vehicles will run on a 1,950ft track handling. The separate elements of the congress will all be held at the Sheraton Park Hotel, Washington. Seminars and symposia taking place during Transpo '72 include the following aviation-orientated meetings: Virginia Advisory Committee on Aviation, June 3-4, Downtowners Hotel, Manassas, Virginia; Bar Association of Airline Pilots, May 25-26, Federal Bar Building; First International Conference on Aerospace and Aeronautical Meteorology, May 22-26, Marriott Twin Bridges; Annual Air Safety Forum, May 22-26, Mayflower Hotel; National Association of State Aviation Officials, May 24-25, Washington Hotel; Alpha Eta Rho International Aviation Fraternity, May 26- 29, Sheraton Park and American University. • Personal transport by lineor-motor-propelled vehicles will be demon strated by Transportation Technology.
