The "F" series engine is the most powerful variant of the GTSIO-520 and results from the development of a larger turbo-charger, intercooler and a new two-stage PIPER NAVAJO B fuel pump. The fuselage is pressurised to a differential of 4-21b/sq ft and maintains sea-level cabin conditions up to an altitude of 9,000ft. The first five production aircraft were delivered during June, the factory price being $229,400 with basic equipment. Maker: North American Rockwell, Bethany, Oklahoma. The Navajo was an immediate success among local- service operators and the refinements introduced on the Model B have added to its utility: Piper is to introduce a stretched-fuselage version in the autumn which will be specifically for the commuter market. A pressurised version is offered for business aviation and a PT6-powered deriva tive has been certificated. The Navajo B, equipped to air line requirements, is listed at $180,000.
