h 1 1 *«*g ; WORLD AIRLINE DIRECTORY © [FUDUKTir copyright compilation by MICHAEL STROUD The 1974 "Flight" World Airline Directory lists, in alphabetical order and comprehensively cross- indexed, more than 500 scheduled airlines and charter companies operating commercial aircraft throughout the world. A section giving a country- by-country cross reference appears overleaf. Airlines listed among the 630-plus entries are almost exclusively those which operate aircraft of Nord 262/Douglas DC-3 size and above, the few exceptions being certain national carriers equipped with smaller commercial aircraft. Companies operating so-called third-level ser vices were listed in the special number of "Flight" published on February 14, 1974. The two issues, used in conjunction, represent the most comprehensive guide to the world's air transport industry available. Entries in the two directories have been integrated and duplications, which usually involve smaller airlines with authority to operate large aircraft, have been kept to a minimum. Technical details of most types of airliner mentioned in this directory are to be found in the Commercial Aircraft of the World special issue published on October 18, 1973. A round up of statistics for a cross-section of airlines appears on directory page 64.
