HJOHI international, if uctoaer iy/ + feaNi m AIR TRANSPORT World airlines update Jhe first of a regular "Flight" series which updates the annual World Airline Directory published on March 21. It represents a comprehensive round-up of changes affecting airlines which have taken place between March 1 and October 1. The entries are in alphabetical order and designed to be used in conjunction with the Directory. Aer Lingus has ordered a ninth 737, a 737-200C, for delivery next May. Aerocondor of Columbia acquired a second 720B from American Airlines in May. Aeroflot has extended its network to include weekly services to Washington DC and Lima. Peru. Washington was added on April 5, and Lima via Frankfurt, Rabat and Havana, on June 30. Aeroflot is currently seeking rights to fly to Toronto, Chicago and San Francisco. Aerolineas Argentinas has ordered three more 737-200s for delivery later this month and in November and December, bringing its fleet of the type to 12. Aerolinee Itavia has leased two additional F.28s from Fokker-VFW, bringing its fleet of the type to six. The fifth aircraft was delivered in May and the sixth, previously operated by the German airline LTU, arrived in July. Aeroperu has expanded its fleet to include two DC-8-50s (acquired from Viasa) for its Miami and Buenos Aires services. The DC-8s were delivered in July and August and join three F.28s and one 727. Aeroperu's first international flight, to Santiago and Buenos Aires, took place on July 29 shortly after authority to operate to Miami and Los Angeles was received from the American Civil Aeronautics Board. The airline has also ordered two new F.27s. Aero Transport Italian! (ATI) has ordered three additional DC-9-30s. The first was delivered last month and the other two will follow in January and March next year. The DC-9 fleet will then total 16. Aerovias Quisqueyanas of Dominica has bought a DC-8-20. The aircraft, previously operated by Eastern Airlines and Air Spain, was delivered in March. Aertirrena of Italy suspended operations during May. Aer Turas has leased a Britannia freighter from Monarch Airlines for 42 months. The aircraft was delivered in May. Air Alsace, the French regional airline based at Colmar, took delivery of an Aerospatiale 262 on May 31. The 29-seat aircraft entered service in June on scheduled services linking Colmar with Paris (Le Bourget) and London (Gatwick). Both routes will be operated by Corvettes later this year. Air America's operating authority was cancelled by the CAB on January 31. 1974. Air Anglia took over two F.27s in May from the defunct Dutch carrier Limburg Airlines. Anglia's F.27 fleet now totals four. Air Benelux International was dissolved in April 1974 without having operated any Air Bridge Carriers (ABC Airlines) has acquired a Viscount 700 freighter previously operated by the defunct British airline Nor- Air. Air Canada has ordered a sixth 747. The aircraft, a long-range convertible passenger/ freighter, is scheduled for delivery in Decem ber. The airline has also ordered six more 727-200s for delivery next year at a cost of more than $50 million. This brings its 727 fleet to 11. Air Comores is reported to have bought two Heralds from Far Eastern Air Transport of Taiwan. Air Florida has acquired a third Electra. Air France has ordered its 16th 747. The air craft, a 747-100, cost $29.5 million and is scheduled to be delivered in February. Air Gaspe of Canada was taken over by Quebecair late in 1973. Air India has reinstated its order for a fifth 747. The new aircraft, originally ordered in August 1973 and cancelled in January, will now cost $28m and will be delivered in December 1975. Air Liberia was formed in January 1974 from the merger of Liberian National Airlines with Ducor Air Transport (Datco). LNA was originally formed in 1949 as Liberian National Airways and operations began in 1952. A technical and management assistance agreement operated between 1965 and 1968 with the French airline UTA, but this was replaced by a similar three-year contract with Hughes Airwest in December 1973. Scheduled passenger services link the Roberts- field International and Spriggs-Payne Air ports (Monrovia) with Greenville (Sinoe), Zwedru (Tchein) and Harper (Cape Palmas). The Air Liberia fleet consists of two Fair- child F-27A, two DC-3, four Cessna 337, one Piper Seneca, two Apache, one Beaver and one Cessna 185. Air Littoral, the French regional airline, has acquired an F.27 previously operated by Euralair. Air Malawi has bought a VC10 from British Caledonian for delivery in November. The airline has also leased a One-Eleven 475 from Air Pacific for five months from July. Air Mauritanic is operating two Fairchild F-27As bought from Hughes Airwest as part of a five-year technical assistance agreement. The aircraft were delivered in June and July. Air Nauru has leased a second F.28 from Fokker-VFW for 12 months pending the delivery of an Advanced 737-200C ordered by the Government of Nauru. The F.28 entered service in May and the 737 is due in July next year. Air Nevada is now operating four Electras on routes linking Lake Tahoe, California, and Truckee, Nevada, with San Francisco, Los Angeles, Oakland, San Jose, Hollywood- Burbank, San Diego and Long Beach. Air Niugini has bought two F.27s from All Nippon Airways, bringing its fleet of the type to ten. Air Pacific has ordered two long-nose Britten- Norman Trislanders to replace four Herons. Air Polynesie has sold two F.27s to Touraine Air Transport and replaced them with three Fairchild F-27As acquired from Hughes Airwest.
