FLIGHT International, 23 January 1975 89 AIRLINER MARKET Aerolineas Argentinas has taken delivery of the first two of three F.28-1000s. Its remaining HS.748s will now be disposed of. Aerolineas Argentinas will be the first all-jet operator in South America . . . Alyemda Demo cratic Yemen Airlines has expressed its intention of ordering a second Boeing 720B from DK Aviation . . . Two F.27-500s fitted with soft-field undercarriages and tyres have been bought by Aramco for use in Saudi Arabia . . . An Air Canada 747B is now making a sales tour of the Middle East calling at Amman, Beirut, Damascus, Baghdad, Kuwait, Jeddah, Cairo, Tripoli, Tunis, Casablanca and Algiers, The aircraft set a wide- body distance record of 8,369 miles when it flew non stop from Seattle to Amman. When the tour is com pleted the aircraft will go to the Canadian flag carrier . . . Beaver Enterprises of Canada is operating an ex- CAF Yukon ... A Carvair has been sold to Norway by British Air Ferries . . . British Midland Airways is looking ait 100-seat aircraft for its scheduled services. The most likely candidates are second-hand One-Eleven 500s or 737-200s . . . Dan-Air has leased four ex-Court One-Eleven 500s . . . Royal Brunei Airlines, the new flag carrier of the state of Brunei, has ordered two new 737-200s for delivery in April and August. They will link Brunei with Singapore, Kota Kinabalu and Hong Kong. Other destinations will be added later . . . Federal Express is looking at the F.28, the Gulfstream II and the Falcon 50 as replacements for its 33 parcel- carrying Falcon 30s . . . The Sogerma division of Aero spatiale has bought a DC-7C from Spantax . . . Japan Air Lines is to delay the delivery of three Boeing 747SRs due to financial problems . . . KLM is offering its three DC-9-10s for sale and has approached a number of air lines. Some KLM routes are likely to be taken over by an expanded NLM which will operate F.27s and later F.28s. Despite talk of a crisis in the air transport industry, some 375 new ' airliners were sold during 1974. American manufacturers clocked up , by far the largest number (282) which included a Boeing total of 187. McDonnell Douglas achieved 68 sales and Lockheed 27. In terms of ,j numbers, the narrow-bodied 707, 727, 737 and DC-9 outsold the wide- bodied 747, TriStar and DC-10. If the Airbus is counted as international, s the French industry sold just two Aerospatiale N262s. The UK sold 31 t aircraft, including a number of secondhand One-Elevens (see table), and the VFW-Fokker group 47, again including a small number of : resales. In terms of value, the disparity between the US and European manufacturers is even wider Top, Air New England will start FH-227 services on February I. Six were bought last year from Delta Air Lines and are being delivered to New York's La Quardia airport after being refurbished by Delta at Atlanta.
