Tempair International Airlines Ltd is a subsidiary of Templewood Aviation Internationa] Ltd. Thai Airways International Ltd is the designated Hag carrier of Thailand, and was formed in August 1959 by an agree ment signed in Bangkok by SAS and Thai Airways Company. Operations began in May I, 1960, when Thai Airways International took over and greatly expanded the international routes of Thai Airways. Toa Domestic Airlines Co Ltd (TDA) was formed on May 15, 1971. by a mer ger of Japan Domestic Airlines (formed 1960 by the amalgamation of North Japan, Nitto and Fuji Airlines) and Toa Airways (formed 1953). Stockholders include Toa, Japan Domestic, Japan Air Linesi (9-1%), Tokyu Corp (26-2%), FujiSash Industries (10-5%) and Kinki Nippon Railway (8-7%). Operations be gan in May 1971 and now cover an ex tensive network of scheduled domestic services to 35 cities throughout Japan from Tokyo and Osaka. Touraine Air Transport (TAT) was formed in 1968. Scheduled services began in April 1970 and have developed into a network of feeder routes linking Aerodrome de Tours St - Symphorien with Le Mans, Poitiers, La Rochelle, Rennes, Lyons, Clermont Ferrand, Limoges, Bergerac, Bordeaux, Agen, Toulouse, Montpellier, Rouen, Deauville and Caen. TAT is a subsidiary of Societe Auxiliare de Services ct de Materiels Aeronautiqucs (Sasmat). Other com panies in the Group include Rousseau Aviation, Taxi Avia France and Avia- Affaires. Charter and in clusive-tour services were operated using two DC-7Cs and a BAG One-Eleven 400 until 1970, when the airline ceased operations and the jet was re possessed. Following lengthy refinanc ing negotiations by the owner, Naveira Aznar. TAE was reorganised and re sumed activities on April 1, 1973, with the help of a technical assistance agree ment with the French airline UTA, from whom TAE is lease-purchasing two DC-8s. Fleet: Five Canadair CL-44. Transair Ltd was formed in 1956 by the merger of Central Northern Airways and Arctic Wings. CNA (founded 1947) operated certain bush routes formerly operated by CP Air. Arctic Wings, based at Churchill on Hudson Bay, was estab lished by the Roman Catholic church to operate charter flights in support of its Arctic missions. In 1969 Transair took over the Winnipeg-based Midwest Airlines and continues to operate it as a division of Transair. Scheduled pas senger services are operated from Win nipeg to the Pas, Flin Flon. Lynn Lake, Norway House. Manitoba, Resolute Bay, Thompson, Gillam, Churchill, and Yel- lowknife NWT; from Winnipeg to Kenora, Dryden, Thunder Bay, Sault Ste Marie and Toronto; and from Winnipeg to Red Lake. Scheduled flights are also operated from Churchill to several points in the Northwest Territories.
