Transportes Aereos de Angola SARL (TAAG), known until October 1, 1973, as DTA-Angola Airlines (Linhas Aereas de Angola) was founded in 1938 as a division of the Ports, Railways and Transport Administration in Portuguese West Africa. Operations began in 1940 and at present TAAG operates a net work of domestic services and also a route between Luanda and Windhoek. South West Africa, and to Sao Tome. Operations were suspended for a time in 1967 while the airline was reorganised with assistance froim TAP. Transcarga is a wholly owned subsidiary of Viasa. Scheduled services are operated between Caracas/ Maracaibo - Miami and Caracas - New York. Charter flights are also operated. Transportes Aereos de Sao Tome operates scheduled passenger services from Sao Tome to Principe, Porto Alegre and to Cabinda in Angola. Head Office: Sao Tome Airport, Sao Tome, Portuguese Guinea. Transportes Aereos de Timor (TAT) operates scheduled passenger services from Dili to Autauro, Baucau, Maliana, Oecusse and Suai in Portuguese Timor and to Kupang in Indonesian Timor. Merpati Nusantara operates a once- weekly DC-3 flight from Dili to Kupang, and TAA a thrice-weekly F.27 service from Baucau to Darwin, both on behalf of TAT. Head Office: Dili, Portuguese Timor. Transportes Aereos Militar (TAM) is the branch of the Paraguayan Air Force formed to operate domestic passenger and cargo services with DC-3s donated by the US Government, Head Office: Aeropuerto Campo Grande, Asuncion, Paraguay. Transportes Aereos Militares is the transport wing of the Bolivian Air Force, formed to provide passenger and cargo services to points not on airline networks. Head Office: La Paz, Bolivia. Transportes Aereos Nacionales SA (TAN Airlines) was founded by Hon- duran private interests in 1947 for the operation of contract cargo flights. The company built up substantial cargo traffic and in 1950 scheduled passenger and freight operations were begun. TAN and Lanica of Nicaragua now operate services on a joint basis. These link Tegucigalpa with San Pedro Sula, Belize City, La Ceiba, Mexico City and Miami In February 1970 TAN acquired Pan American's holding (38%) in Sa'hsa. Executive: President, Maj Jacinto Ruales. Fleet: Two DC-3, one Twin Otter. Transportes Aereos Portugueses SARL (TAP) was founded in 1944 as a division of the Civil Aviation Department. Its first service between Lisbon and Madrid was opened in September 1946, and ser vices to Angola and Mozambique were opened the following year. TAP is now largely privately owned and operates domestic and cabotage services from Lisbon to Porto, Faro, Funchal, Porto Santo, Santa Maria, Beira, Bissau, Lourenco Marques, Luanda and Sal. International services are operated to Amsterdam, Brussels, Buenos Aires, Copenhagen, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt,
