FLIGHT International, 13 August 1977 488-489 Almost 200,000 people converged on RAF Finningley last month to see more than200 aircraft taking part in the fourth royal review to be held in the RAF's 59 years. The air display presented during the Queen's review (1, see also Flight last week, page 391) was repeated for the public on the following day, July 30. The static and flying displays included every current type, from Bloodhound missiles to Jaguar fighters and Hawk trainers. Also on the ground was the first Venture II T.61E motor-glider, the only completely new RAF aircraft present. Flypasts included a maritime formation (2) of Nimrods, Buccaneers and Phantoms; a Hercules transport formation (3); and Jetstreams and Dominies (4) in the training formation. Strike Command Vulcans (5) scrambled, and the highlight for many was the RAAF F-lll (6), which produced a torch of flame by simultaneously selecting afterburner and fuel jettison during an almost vertically banked turn. The static park (7) was crowded throughout the day. Ts T6
