FLIGHT International, 6 January 1979 What's new The DMS 5003, a new dynamic test ing and modal analysis system, is an nounced by Zonic Technical Labora tories (8927 Rossash Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45236). The system predicts or analyses the response of any struc ture!—fans, machine tools, turbines, stacks of cartons, or automotive and freight car components1—subjected to dynamic forces. It is claimed to be ideal for structural testing using im pact, random or sinusoidal excitation techniques. Aeroengine turbines have been analysed to reveal the deformation that takes place in the microseconds after a blade is struck by a foreign object. A universal mount for attaching maps, stopwatches and charts to aircraft control yokes is announced by Autel Corporation (PO Box 310, Mountain View, California 94043). The Quick-Clamp can be attached finger-tight around the yoke shafts of Cessnas, Pipers and most other light aircraft. The aluminium device has steel threaded fasteners and three basic parts: a clamped-on base, an adjustable platform for calculator and timer, and a clip for maps and ap- A New Direction for Electronic Warfare VIVISUN 20/20™ THE FULLY QUALIFIED MIL-SPEC SWITCH This is the miniature pushbutton switch (Mil-S-22885/90) proven successful on LAMPS MK III, ALQ-137, the F-16, YAH-64, AH-1T, Panavia Tornado, BAe Hawk and Ground Based Security Systems. The rims are components of the reaction-wheel assembly developed for the control and stabilisation of Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System spacecraft proach guides. The platform can be set vertically for calculator use, or aligned with the pilot's eyes for map- reading (see photograph). A new range of proportional flow- control valves has been introduced by Moog Controls (Huntsoote Road, Cheltenham, Gloucs GL51 9NX). Designated D064, the range features a high flow capability (up to 5001it/ min) with two or three stages. Moog says that a single D064 valve is a simpler, less expensive alterna tive to systems using as many as four or five separate valves. The new valve gives genuine proportional control rather than the stepped control offered by a multi-valve configuration. Who's where Girard Bach has joined E-Systems as European operations director.
